  • What is the Checking Group?
    (Tue, 06 Apr 2010)

The Checking Group is a monthly meeting for people with a learning disability but is open to all people in Tower Hamlets, not just those who attend the Tower Project.

The Checking group is a sub-group of the Tower Hamlets Learning Disability Partnership Board.

In this meeting we have a person with a learning disability who chairs the meeting. They read through the agenda and the minutes from the last meeting and they also introduce guest speakers.

What do we do in the meeting?

    • We discuss employment and our barriers to getting a job.
    • We think of ideas and do group work and role play.
    • We invite guest speakers for example people from the council, the partnership board and people with work experience.

    Representatives of the checking group:

We are four volunteers; we represent the checking group and write this blog.

We attend the meeting and get ideas from the group to update the blog. We then feed back to the group about the work we have done on the blog.

We are using this blog so people get to know who we are and what do. We can also let people know about any events we know about.
