  • Justin and Jobseekers
    (Fri, 19 Mar 2010)

    Hi everyone

I had an interesting chat with Justin last week about the Job Centre putting pressure on him to look for paid work and possibly losing his Jobseekers Allowance.

I don’t know what to think really.

    (Tue, 09 Mar 2010)

    Hi everyone,

Sorry that it has been so long. Justin and Ono are doing well.

Justin is looking for a full time job and Ono is the party animal, Ono has more of a social life than me.

Working with Justin and Ono makes you have more patience generally which is a good thing.

‘Terminology’ question: ‘Learning disabled people/person’ fits best with the social model and is most logical? Does it?

  • Articulate UK
    (Tue, 26 Jan 2010)

“Articulate UK” is a 3 day conference for 15 young people with learning disabilities aged 16-25, policy makers and decision makers in the field of youth-led training, employment support and post education service delivery.

Through a programme of facilitated discussions, the young people will take the floor to talk directly to the experts.

The project sets up opportunities for agencies to listen to young people and supports young people to express themselves. It encourages people to listen to each other and not make assumptions.

For education, employment and other service providers across the UK, this is an opportunity to open up pathways to training and employment services. They will be making forum theatre and expressing themselves.

For more information and to get involved please contact Laura Cream, Programme Manager on 020 7424 7362 or email

  • Ono in today at Shape

It’s an Ono Friday today and she makes it a good day with her smile.

  • Ono and Justin
    (Thu, 21 Jan 2010)

Just to tell you about Ono and Justin.

Ono comes in every other Friday, she does database work and deals with our online media sites including Facebook and Twitter.

Ono is a marketing guru and great at public relations.

Justin originally came via Mencap on a work placement and stayed on as a volunteer. Justin does our database entry and data cleaning.

He is always on time, smartly dressed and a joy to have around the office but he is very shy.
