Cheshire West and Chester Council Gateway to Work Project
(Sat, 11 Sep 2010)
Sorry this is a bit late. I have been away at a conference in Brighton organised by, BASE British Association of Supported Employment. The conference was in Brighton. We talked a lot about what is the best way to help people with a learning disability get paid work. We heard about people who have got jobs and what a difference it has made to them, a bit like Jack’s story which I am sure you have read on this web site.
I thought I would tell you how Cheshire West and Chester Councils Gateway project is going. We will have another 4 people starting work this month. The jobs are in different departments in the council for example. Housing, Customer Service, Building facilities and our own Supported Employment department.
All together we have had 16 jobs pledged which is realy good news. We are now trying to match the jobs on offer to people with a learning disability that we know.
I have never bloggged before so you will have to let me know how I am doing.
Speak to you soon.
